RANKIN COUNTY ARES NET PREAMBLE

7:59 pm:  All stations on this frequency please stand by for the Rankin County ARES net. This is (call sign).

8:00 pm:  All Stations welcome to this week’s session of the Rankin County ARES net. This is (call sign), net control and my name is (your name).

This net meets each Thursday at 20:00 hours local time courtesy of the K5RKN repeater on 147.345 with a 100hz tone.

This net is sponsored by the Rankin County ARES Team and the Central MS Amateur Radio Association. The purpose of this net is to encourage interest in, and provide information about, Amateur Radio in Rankin County and the surrounding area. It also serves as a training tool and practice session for ARES members. You do not have to be a member of ARES to join this net.

ARES is part of the ARRL field organization and offers emergency communication services to public service and governmental agencies during potential and actual disasters.

This is a directed net, please address all transmissions to Net Control. Priority and Emergency traffic will be handled immediately.

**Handle Emergency Traffic first, then Priority Traffic. If immediate assistance is needed, write down the
Who, What, When and Where of the emergency and contact the appropriate authorities.**

NTS format messages may be initiated or passed on this net. Do we have any stations wishing to list formal traffic?

We will now proceed with check-ins. Please speak slowly and leave a few seconds between check-ins. Should you hear a
station that net control does not hear, please announce RELAY and your call sign and wait to be acknowledged.

The net will now take check-ins from ARRL Appointees, ARES officials, Served Agencies and other Emergency Officials. Please give your call sign, name, appointment, location, and whether you are using emergency or commercial power.

Handle NTS Format messages

Before closing I would like to encourage participation in the nets of our sister ARES teams. Information regarding the Scott County, Madison County, and Hinds County ARES nets can be found on our website. The Central MS Amateur Radio Association sponsors club meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the Rankin County EOC building at 7:00pm. Meetings include a presentation on an Amateur Radio topic followed by VE testing.
