The Giro d'Rankin
The Giro d'Rankin is a 2-day, 3-event bicycle race omnium in Rankin County, Mississippi on May 3th and 4th, 2008. A time trial and a road race will be held on Saturday, both beginning at Shiloh United Methodist Church on Shiloh Road about 9 miles East of Brandon’s Shiloh Park. On Sunday, a criterium will be held in Flowood on a 0.9 mile flat course with an excellent surface. There will be cash prizes for the individual races, as well as the overall which will be scored as an omnium (USCF Rule 4C3 - Individual Points Classification). Category 5 fields are limited to a maximum of 50 riders. The Cat 5 50+ and Masters 55+ fields will only have a time trial and a road race; for the road race they will race together but will be scored separately. There is a minimum field size of 5 for the Masters 55+ races. If the Senior 1/2 field size is smaller than 12, the Senior 1/2 and Senior 3 fields will race together (all races) for the same prize list – the listed Senior 1/2 prize list. The decision to combine the Senior 1/2 and Senior 3 races will be based on the number of entrants for the Saturday Time Trial; if combined, race start times will be the listed Senior 3 start time.
