CMARA ARES NET - The Central Mississippi Amateur Radio Association conducts an Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) Net every Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. on the K5RKN Repeater in Brandon, MS operating on 147.345 MHz (+) with 100 Hz PL tone. This net meets for the purpose of training and practice so that we will be prepared for a REAL Emergency should it occur. You do NOT have to be a member of ARES to participate. All stations, this is ____, Net Control for this session of the Rankin County ARES Net. This net meets each week at 2030 local time courtesy of the K5RKN repeater on 147.945/345. This repeater has a 100 Hertz tone. The purpose of this net is to encourage interest in, and to provide information about, the Amateur Radio Emergency Service in Rankin County. ARES is a part of ARRL field organization and offers emergency communications services to public service and governmental agencies during potential and actual disasters.
All amateurs are welcome to the net. You do not have to be a member of ARES to join this net. This is a directed net. Please address all transmissions to net control. As always, Priority or Emergency transmissions will take precedence and will be handled immediately.

VE Testing - VE Testing is available after any of our club meetings. We will also schedule VE testing for special events or for groups that request it.
Licensing Classes - We will periodically schedule Ham Radio licensing classes or we can bring the classes to you if there is a request.
Continuing Education - We encourage all our members to upgrade their license and classes can be provided if there is enough interest.
Community Service - CMARA has provided communications for community events such as the "Giro d'Rankin Bicycle Race" and the "MS Blues Marathon". We hope to provide assistance to more events in the future. Contact us if you have a need. events@cmsara.org
